VIRTUAL ESA + PSD EVALUATIONS

If a mental health condition significantly impacts your daily functioning, an animal may provide meaningful emotional or psychiatric support. I offer professional, evidence-based evaluations to determine eligibility for an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) or Psychiatric Service Dog (PSD).

These evaluations are not automatic approvals. Each assessment is completed with clinical integrity, in alignment with federal guidance, ethical standards, and scope-of-practice requirements.

All evaluations are conducted through secure virtual sessions and are available to adult clients located in Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, Texas, and Florida.

whAT IS AN ESA OR PSD?

Emotional Support Animal

An ESA provides emotional support that alleviates one or more symptoms of a mental health condition and may be trained to perform disability-related tasks. ESA’s are protected under the Fair Housing Act (FHA) when criteria are met.

Psychiatric Service Dog

A PSD is a dog that has been individually trained to perform tasks that mitigate symptoms of a psychiatric disability (e.g., interrupting panic attacks, grounding during dissociation). PSD’s may have protections related to air travel and public access when federal criteria are met.

ESA and Psychiatric Service Dog evaluations are clinical services. Documentation is issued only when criteria are met and reflects professional clinical judgment. Acceptance or accommodation decisions are made solely by housing providers, airlines, or other third parties.

  • Yes. Verification or accommodation forms may be completed after the evaluation and initial letter, when clinically appropriate. These requests are typically processed within 5 business days. Additional fees may apply.

    Confirmation of disability and need for ESA or PSD are disclosed with client permission. Private health information will not be disclosed to any third parties.

  • No. I provide professional documentation only and do not negotiate directly with third parties.

  • No. Letters are issued only if clinical criteria are met.

    Acceptance or accommodation decisions are made solely by third parties.

  • ESA and PSD letters are valid for one year. Most housing providers request documentation dated within the past 12 months, though requirements may vary.

  • Evaluation fees are for the time, expertise, and clinical work involved and are non-refundable, regardless of outcome. This includes cases where an ESA or PSD letter is not clinically indicated, or accepted by a housing provider.

    Fees for add-on services (such as additional documentation, verification forms, or rush processing) are also non-refundable.
